18 - I had so much fun doing all of this!
7 - We carved pumpkins!

On Halloween, all of the grade 1 classes got together and participated in some Halloween centres. Lots of fun!

Les 5 sens/The 5 senses

Yesterday, Mme. had a popcorn maker and a bowl hiding underneath the table. Then Mme made us use our senses to figure out what was underneath the table.

4 - We thought there was paper or glue under the table.

9 - It was hard to know what was under the table, because we couldn't see it.

5 - We had to turn around and use our ears to listen.

15 - We could the smell the popcorn being made.

12 - We touched the popcorn. It felt squishy.

11 - We got to taste the popcorn.

Bus Ridership

Bus driver Bob helped us review bus safety. Here are a few things we learned and talked about:

The buses have safety tools in case they get in trouble.

We learned some of the bus rules, like sitting down in our seats and no eating on the bus.

We practiced how to emergency exit.

T.I.A.

We had our first Learning Through the Integrated Arts this week.  Our class is working with visual artist Mme Broughton. We used clay to make balls. We had to make 10 rows with 10 balls in each row. That's 100 balls! Check back in a couple of weeks to see what we are going to do next time with all the balls we made.

Sorting leaves, toys and gummy bears!

Not only did we sort our leaves this week, we also practiced sorting with little toys and manipulatives.

We all did a great job at sorting different objects and to celebrate our hard work we finished the week off by sorting gummy bears! We started by sorting, then we counted how many bears of each colour we had. Once we coloured in our graph, we got to eat the gummy bears! Yum!

What gummy bear flavour was your favourite?

Leaves are falling everywhere!

Last weekend we collected leaves and brought them to school on Monday. All week we have been doing some fun activities with the leaves.

We sorted leaves by shape, colour and size.

We looked at the lines that make up a leaf and then tried drawing our own leaves.

We even had some fun making leaf rubbings.
